It was back in the year 2003, a few educated unemployed youths of greater Barpeta Road town realised the importance of a CBSE school at Barpeta Road. The prima-facie reason behind this was that though the town and its suburban area has mushroom growth of schools, affiliated to state board, yet hundreds of brilliant students had been opting for the CBSE curriculum and migrating to different destinations from Barpeta Road in search of CBSE Schools. Barpeta Road, being the first commercial hub in entire Lower Assam (North Bank of Brahmaputra) and a fast growing town opens avenues for various Banks, L.I.C, Govt. Offices, Non Govt. Organisations, Hospitals, Schools and Colleges, Forest- Offices, Tele Communication Companies etc. where officials from different parts of Assam and India render their services living with their families. It is, therefore a healing-touch for such officials transferred from different places to provide the same pattern of schooling to their children at Barpeta Road and this was only possible through a school following CBSE curriculum. There was no such institution within the radius of 20 kms of Barpeta Road. Under such rational and judicious considerations and energetic youth pulled up their socks and on 06th Febuary, 2003, the foundation of the school was laid at a rented house with 27 students to start from the preparatory to K.G. standard. The name "Manas Valley Academy" was coined from the very concept of the historically famous river ‘Manas’ which runs adjacent to Barpeta Road Town. Late Mr. Sankar Das, Controller of Examinations of Arunachal University, left no stone unturned to give a shape to the new institution. left no stone unturned to give a shape to the new institution. It is a matter of grief for the school family that such an unselfish and dynamic person, the friend, philosopher and guide of Manas Valley Academy suddenly joined the majority. Though the concept of such a school at first was like a midsummer night’s dream, yet at present the dream is gradually coming to a reality. The school authority is determined to provide with the best education to the students, upbringing them installing great moral values of life, and teaching them the value of discipline, truthfulness, punctuality, courage and honesty and above all, kindness and patriotism; the greatest need of the hour for every Indian.
The Manas Valley Academy aims to attract and develop exceptional students who are knowledgeable, creative and critical thinkers. They will learn to express themselves in a variety of ways and grow their capacity for collaborative work in the classrooms and beyond. The school seeks to develop principled, reflective, and balanced risk-takers who know the difference between activity and action and can step forward when needed. Students are expected to aspire to genuine and higher intellectual achievement. They are also expected to develop and acquire leadership and entrepreneurial skills in school in preparation for the rest of their professional lives.
